Strong support by the Latvian Minister of Health

About 100 participants took part in the conference on 1st of February 2013 organized by the Latvian Ministry of Health and "PrimCareIT" project.

Minister of Health InGrida Circene welcomes Swedish project partnersThe conference was opened by the Minister of Health of Latvia Ms Ingrida Circene. State Secretary Mr Rinalds Mucins presented an overview of the main achievements in the last years and new challenges in the health care sector. One of the biggest challenges is the implementation of tele-medicine in primary health care. In the speeches of the Baltic Sea Region programme, attention was paid to the results achieved by the project "ImPrim" and above all in particular to the expected results of "PrimCareIT". One of the activities in the upcoming months will be a pilot where the cooperation between primary care and specialist care professionals will be tested in remoted areas of Latvia.

Tele-medicine in Latvia - increasing demandAnother benefit: The thereby increased accessibility to separate specialist care could lead to a higher satisfaction level of patients with health care services. The Head of Association of cardiovascular diseases who takes an active role in the teleconsultation of GPs in the project "PrimCareIT" presented the health care system as industrial sector where innovative technologies such as telemedicine play an important role.
